Reduce travel distance and costs (previously, people had to go to Bujumbura (the economic capital) or Gitega (the political capital) for treatment);
Offer the population local services and access to healthcare;
Help the community gain health information;
Provide preventive nutritional education to reduce cases of blindness;
Organize awareness campaigns in schools and villages so that everyone is informed about eye health issues.
Medium and long-term objectives:
Provide more diversified services, including eye surgery;
Equip the center with modern equipment that other centers in the country do not have.
Services
The center offers the following services to the population:
Medical consultation;
Patient education on eye health;
Referral of patients based on diagnosis;
The GOSHEN center is still young, and currently, there are services we cannot provide, such as eye surgery, due to the lack of equipment. However, the center will grow and will be able to perform glaucoma surgeries and trabeculectomies.
